The Merchant Navy Officer Cadet Programme trains deck (navigation) and engineer officers for the merchant navy. As a cadet you will spend part of your time studying at the NAFC Marine Centre and part working at sea as a trainee on board ships. You will be employed by a shipping company which will pay you a training allowance (and pay all your fees and expenses) throughout your training.
The professional and academic qualifications that you gain as a cadet will enable you to work as a junior deck or engineer officer on ships anywhere in the world or progress to further study.
