This half day course is mandatory for anyone wishing to operate the landing crane installed at Blacksness in Scalloway Harbour.

Introduction

This half-day course provides basic knowledge of the safe operation of the landing crane installed at Blacksness in Scalloway Harbour and is mandatory for any person wishing to operate the crane.

Operation of the crane is controlled by an electronic fob which can be obtained from the Scalloway Harbour Office. Fobs will only be issued on production of a course completion certificate for this course.

The course will cover topics related to the safe operation of the Blacksness landing crane.

Delivery

This is a half day course delivered at the NAFC Marine Centre and at Blacksness.

Fees

  • £125

Persons who hold the basic fishing safety certificates (Sea Survival, Fire Fighting, First Aid and Safety Awareness) may be able to reclaim the cost of this course from Seafish. Advice on making a claim will be provided during the course.
