This half day course is mandatory for anyone wishing to operate the harbour landing crane installed at Blacksness in Scalloway Harbour or those to be installed in Symbister and Lerwick.

Introduction

This half-day course provides basic knowledge of the safe operation of harbour landing cranes such as those installed at Blacksness in Scalloway Harbour and to be installed in Symbister and Lerwick

This course is mandatory for any person wishing to operate these cranes.

Operation of the Scalloway crane is controlled by an electronic fob which can be obtained from the Scalloway Harbour Office on production of a course completion certificate for this course.

This is a half day course delivered at the NAFC Marine Centre and at Blacksness.

Persons who hold the basic fishing safety certificates (Sea Survival, Fire Fighting, First Aid and Safety Awareness) may be able to reclaim the cost of this course from Seafish. Advice on making a claim will be provided during the course.
