Medical Care Onboard Ship
5 day taught course. MCA / STCW approved.

Introduction
This 5-day course provides training in how to provide medical care to sick and injured persons while they remain on board a ship.
It is required by those responsible for providing medical care on vessels operating worldwide (more than 150 miles from a safe haven) and is a prerequisite for some certificates of competency.
NOTE: Proficiency In Medical Care Onboard Ship certificates have to be renewed every five years.
Entry Requirements
Candidates should have previously completed a Medical First Aid course or a Medical Care Onboard Ship course.
Content
The course covers a variety of both theoretical and practical topics, including:
- Casualty care
- Care of rescued persons
- Nursing
- Diseases and disease prevention
- Alcohol and drug abuse
- Pregnancy and childbirth
- Dental care
- Death
- Record keeping
