Description/Responsibilities

Caroline assists in taking day to day responsibility for: providing an effective marketing, advertising and public relations service for the Centre, including materials and events; identifying business development opportunities within target markets and carrying out market research as required. She also liaises with fishing and other industries having responsibility for monitoring industry needs and developments of relevance to NAFC.

In addition close contact is maintained with schools, industry and other relevant organisations to establish training and education development needs and promote existing Centre activities.

She also provides confidential, timely and impartial support and guidance for students.  This includes accessing funds, providing and interpreting regulations, handling personal issues and assisting with problem resolution.

Specialities/Research Interests/Skills

HNC Office Administration, HND Business Administration, NEBOSH, PREVENT, Member of Shetland Children's Panel, and holder of many relevant short course certificates.

Brief History

Caroline has been based within NAFC Marine Centre since 1994 and has built up strong links with the marine industries through co-ordination of training courses and other opportunities. She also has extensive experience of assisting in project delivery at EU level and for Seafish, amongst others, collating material for training needs analysis, labour market surveys, economic  surveys and coaching towards vessel risk assessment and the Responsible Fishing Scheme. Since 2014 Caroline has also co-ordinated much of the marketing and promotional activities of the Centre including Social Media and website development.
