Davie is part of the fisheries team within the Marine Science and Technology department, and is primarily involved in the collection of fishery and biological data on local whitefish boats. Other responsibilities include assisting in data collection for Marine Scotland, such as whitefish and pelagic sampling.

Brief history

Davie has worked in the fishing industry for about 30 years, starting as a deckhand in 1979, and achieving a Fishing CoC. in 1985. Since then he has worked as a deckhand/owner and skipper/owner on boats from 10m to 24m. Following this he worked at NAFC as a fisheries technician from 2000-2007 working on various projects including Pelagic Discards, Technical Conservation Measures in the demersal fishery and data collection for various Shellfish Research Projects.
